I found this idea I loved on pinterest! While I loved the green, it didn’t quite go with my décor in my den. So Instead I went with a pearl white. I found the backsplash on Amazon. You can buy it by the pack or by the sheet (thank god!). I have big plans of doing a backsplash in my kitchen and am kind of glad I started with a smaller project. I learned a few things as I went that will be helpful on a larger scale. For the most part it was very straight forward. Peel off the back, line it up, and hold it in place for a few minutes so it sticks well.
The sheets were 12x12 but the shelves were not. So my brother in law loaned me his Dremel to cut the tile. I took a shop class in highschool, I don’t remember much of it. But I made it out with a fancy clock and all my fingers intact. Between that and my drill, those are the only power tools I have used. So the Dremel was a nice way to ease me in. And I looked super adorable in my safety glasses and mask.

Let me just say this is not a how to or expert level advise. Look elsewhere for that. This is just a few things I wish I could have found on all the blogs I read. Some of it is may be obvious to you, but wasn’t to me at the beginning.

First of all, make sure you are getting as tight against next tile as possible. The gaps do show and you don’t use grout. Also the tiles I used are not perfectly even on the edges, so if you use these prepare yourself for a few gaps.

Second of all, measure twice before you cut! I know cliché. But it helps. You think you have it and then you get distracted by a cat jumping up there and next thing you know (after you chase the cat out) you are cutting the wrong marks. My cabinets were pretty straightforward so I was able to hold the tiles up and trace my cuts. And then make the cuts with my (that is my brother in law's) Dremel.

Third of all, cut on the front of the tiles. These tiles kick up a lot of dust so the mask was wise. And a few shards of tiles flew around so the safety goggles a MUST!

Fourth of all, perfection is not my jam. Which is why it is such a large picture, you can see my gaps, but you can hardly notice with the final decor. So love it, flaws and all! Oh and I also ended up about half a tile short for my edges, which comes back to thank god you can just buy one tile versus a whole pack

That was about it. It wasn’t a giant project. But a great way to ease in on the first one I did on my own. Although to be fair, my dad did peel and stick a few of the first panels.
